A youth was hit by a direct smoke shell injuring him critically in the day long police protestor clashes in north Kashmir's Sopore town. Police said eight persons including five cops were also injured in the clashes triggered by the drowning of a teenager in the town during Tuesday's clashes.
The police attached the residential house of Sanaullah Mir at Turigam in Kulgam after obtaining legal sanction from the competent authorities (divisional commissioner, Kashmir), a spokesman said.
Four terrorists were killed on Friday in an encounter with security forces, while another surrendered in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir S P Pani said while a Srinagar resident based in Pakistan had started an online campaign against the slain journalist, three Lashkar militants -- Jatt, Muzaffar Ahmad and Azad Malik carried out the killing.
Earlier in 2010, the highest number of 156 terrorists were killed between January and July that year.
